St John the Baptist is the parish church for the whole of the village, including Buckton Fields. That means that it is everyone's church, here for everyone who wishes to attend its services, and to arrange baptisms, weddings or funerals here. Everyone living within the boundaries of the parish is a parishioner.
It was originally a private (chantry) chapel for Boughton Hall, but since the 17th century has been the parish church for everyone. The former village school, built by its Victorian Rector, adjoins the Tower and has been part of the church since 1931, providing meeting rooms, including a kitchen and WC.
Inside it is bright and warm, and offers a warm welcome to all who join us for worship. Everyone is welcome from every Christian tradition and none. We seek to live out an ecumenical vision where we do everything together as far as possible. Our main services are followed by a friendly half hour of refreshments in the church rooms for us all to meet together afterwards.
Our main service is at 0930 every Sunday, which is Holy Communion using Common Worship, with hymns and a sermon.
Most Sundays there is also Holy Communion at 0800 using the Book of Common Prayer.
We welcome inquiries about baptisms and wedding, and the church is also here for those who wish their funeral service to take place in the parish. Confirmation courses take place from time to time and on request.
ALL ARE WELCOME
