Lifepath Celebration and Commissioning Service

Occurring
for 1 hour
Venue
Brinkburn Priory
Address
Brinkburn Northumberland, NE65 8RQ, United Kingdom

Lifepath is an annual event for primary schools that has been run at Lifepath each June for over ten years. The children come for a day and learn about one of the Northumbrian saints in a day that combines lots of fun and activities with learning about a saint, as well as thinking about the direction of their own "lifepath." This year Lifepath, organised by a group of local churches along with the Mustard Tree Trust using a Scripture Union pattern, runs the last week in June. The afternoon of Sunday 24th June is used to set up temporary structures and the activities that will be used, and concludes with a Commissioning Service in the Priory building, which this year will be led by the Revd Rich Townend, the Priest in Charge of the group of parishes that includes Brinkburn

Brinkburn Priory

Welcome to Brinkburn Priory!  The building, now in the care of English Heritage, is no longer used for daily or weekly services, but remains a consecrated building, and a wonderful venue with superb acoustics for worship, and the location for occasional special services such as marriages and marriage blessings, services at Christian festivals such as Ascension Day, and the LifePath event for schoolchildren every summer.

Because of COVID-19, Brinkburn had restrictions on visitor access for a couple of years, but is now back to a near normal accessibility.  It closes for the winter each year, between the end of October and the beginning of April. Advance booking is no longer necessary but can help to avoid delays and get the best admission prices.  During the season, from April to October, Brinkburn is normally open to visitors on bank holidays and daily except Monday and Tuesday, between 10:00 and 17:00.  See the English Heritage website for current information

Regular weekly services are normally held at St Mary's Church in Longframlington,  Some past services can be seen on our YouTube channel. To receive our weekly pew sheet, with the Sunday readings and the latest news, sign up by emailing [email protected]
