Thanks to Teresa Scott and the families and friends of the Longframlington Toddler Group we now have a Bee and Bug Hotel in the churchyard – and in the September sunshine it has been attracting all sorts of insects from spiders to butterflies and bees. Maybe at first they are just exploring, but we anticipate that once it is an established site it will be well used - as a base for foraging, for breeding and maybe even for overwintering. If you’ve not been to visit it yet, do have a look – it’s not far from the door into the Community Room. It has been really good to see families popping in to see what’s happening on their way home from the school bus in the afternoon
Many thanks to all who contributed materials and hard work to this project, which adds to the wildlife provision we already have, such as the bird nest boxes. And we are hopeful that the unmown areas, which have not always looked great, will with thoughtful management develop into prolific wild flower areas in future summers. The wild flowers in the corner of the churchyard opposite the playing field looked fantastic over the Platinum Jubilee weekend
