These are Lent & Easter events this year.
A course for anyone who prays, would like to pray, or is curious about prayer. Each week during Lent we will explore a different way of praying.
Join us to remember Jesus' arrival into Jerusalem, with a (short) procession around the church building, and blessing of palm crosses.
A short service of communion, as we journey through Holy Week.
We remember Jesus' final meal with his disciples, through scripture, hymns, (optional) foot-washing, and communion. After the service, there is the option to stay for the Watch, which concludes with Compline at 10pm.
Reflecting on the passion and death of Jesus. After this, the church will remain open for private prayer until the Liturgy of Good Friday at 2pm.
We remember Jesus' final hour on the cross. The service will include readings, prayers, the veneration of the cross, the passion narrative, and an opportunity to receive communion. The service will be followed by hot cross buns.
We gather to hear the stories of salvation throughout scripture. Then we move to the porch to kindle the first fire of Easter, light and bless the Paschal Candle, hear the ancient hymn of the Exsultet, and process the light of Christ into church, where we will celebrate the first Eucharist of Easter. The service is followed by fizz and chocolates. This is a joint service with St Wilfrid's, Newbiggin Hall.
