Blanchland Abbey

We are a small, friendly church in a large building steeped in history, originally founded as a monastery for a community of Premonstratensian canons. We welcome local residents as well as visitors, and our congregation often includes the odd dog or two. We meet for worship on the first and third Sunday of every month at 9.30 am, with Holy Communion on the first Sunday and a service of the word on the third. The church is also open every day, throughout the day.

Everyone is very welcome – please do come and join us.

Safeguarding

Like the Church of England as a whole, we as a parish are committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops' guidance and policies (https://www.churchofengland.org/sites/default/files/2019-05/PromotingSaferChurchWeb.pdf); our Parish Safeguarding Officer is Mrs Ursula Martell, who can be reached on [email protected]. The Diocese of Newcastle’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Casework Advisor (DSA), Jill Thirlaway, who can be contacted on: [email protected]. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA . If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
