We'd love to hear from you

St. Mungo’s is the mother church for what was known as ‘`the Great Parish of Simonburn’, at one time the largest parish in England. A beautiful 13th century church with remnants of older buildings going back to the 8th century. Founded by St. Mungo in the 6th century when he was chased out of Glasgow by a pagan king, he came and baptised in the stream that still runs past the church. We are a very rural community, one small village with surrounding farms and settlements and our older parishioners remember coming to church by pony or in a horse drawn cart.

A gem of a classic rural English church with an award winning tearoom across the village green.
