On Wednesday 15th of December the Lunch Club held its Christmas Dinner for the first time since the Pandemic. All our regulars were present and it was great to see some new faces. The four course meal started with Prawn Cocktail (very 1970's) followed by a main of Roast Turkey (or Quorn Roast for our vegetarian guests) with all the trimmings including Brussel Sprouts grown in our community growing space. Christmas pudding with cream followed and finally there was a selection of Cheese and Biscuits or Mince Pies. There was a Christmas Quiz and a glass of Sherry for anyone who likes a tipple ( rumours abound that Robert had two glasses!) We had time to celebrate three Birthdays, one of which was a milestone for Arthur a key volunteer at the Lunch Club. We were also blessed to have Moorgate School Choir perform a selection of modern Christmas songs along with some traditional Carols. Our Luncheon Club will reopens on January 5th and all are welcome. "It's wonderful to be back" was the unanimous reaction of our regulars at the Wednesday Luncheon Club at St. Chad's Church hall, who had been through 18 months of isolation. Regular phone calls assured them that they were not forgotten, until the long-awaited call to say that the luncheon club was being relaunched.Newcomers are always welcome, and there are activities after the meal for anyone who wishes to stay.
