During services across the Team on Sunday 9 June, it was announced that the next Vicar of Bolton will be the Revd Hannah Lane.
Reverend Hannah, currently Team Curate for the Turton Moorland Team, is set to take on the role of the Vicar of Bolton Parish Church and St Philip’s Church, following the retirement of the Revd Canon Dr Chris Bracegirdle last year.We will miss Hannah dearly and will have time to thank her for all she has given to our parishes over the last few years. Hannah has been a kind, calming and steadying presence through a very difficult period and we are all so grateful to have been part of her curacy.
We also wish to pass on our huge congratulations for this new role and will support her as she carries on her work in this area as Vicar of Bolton and Borough Dean of the town.
Hannah will be the first female member of clergy to take on this office.
Sharing her anticipation, Hannah said,
“I am excited by the potential of this role in the ever-changing landscape of a town with which I am already familiar. I hope that I can play my part in growing our churches, nurturing new disciples and serving the local community. I am looking forward to working in diverse areas of our town and am enthusiastic about continuing to work closely with local schools.
“My own faith has been inspired and nurtured by music and singing so I am particularly pleased to be joining a centre renowned for its musical and choral excellence. My hope is that we can invite the people of the town to take part in all that Bolton Parish Church and St Philip’s Church have to offer.
“Whether you have a strong faith or would like to find out more, I look forward to welcoming you to our churches.”
Reflecting on her time within the Turton Moorland Team Hannah said,
“It has been an honour to serve my curacy in the Turton Moorland Team, and I am sad to be leaving behind so many lovely people. I am excited for a new start and new challenges, while feeling grateful for all I have learnt and for everyone I have met.
“I feel that the time is right for me to move on, and that the team has now reached a point in its story where a new chapter is ready to begin. I make no secret about my rootedness in our town and I am so proud to have been able to start my ministerial career in the Turton Moorland Team and Bolton Deanery, and I am pleased that I will be continuing to serve the Borough in my new role”.
