Hymns & Music for 20th June recorded by Mel, St. Paul's Church Organist

Mel, St. Paul's Church Organist, writes :

I think I may have had week’s slippage reading the lectionary last week, with some items more relevant to this Sunday, suggested for last! Partly for this reason and also because we are away in N E England this week, I’ll leave this week without fresh material, so as to give myself chance to get back in step. Four items from the archive suggested for revisiting this Sunday are:

SHF 603 When morning gilds the skies - https://youtu.be/Vg_yC0LBewA

CP 384 Be still my soul - https://youtu.be/B17zb6LAT3c

AMNS 312 Jesus calls us o’er the tumult - https://youtu.be/m3flTeeLrtI

AMNS 235 O Jesus I have promised - https://youtu.be/0Si_2jdNaYs

The first is a translation of an early German text. It echoes quite few of the psalms that have often repeated declarations of praise. This being a Christian text, rather than an ancient Jewish one, the phrase becomes ‘May Jesus Christ be praised.’ The second hymn follows from last week’s premature inclusion of one with sea storm references.

There’ll be fresh material added next week.
