St Mary the Virgin (The Parish Church)

A very warm welcome awaits you here at St Mary the Virgin, Leigh. We are situated in the heart of the community and as a Church of England church we are committed to serving the people of Leigh since our humble beginnings in 1873. St Mary the Virgin has links to the three primary schools within a short locality of the church and is a focal point of the town centre.

As it says in Hebrews 13:2, do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it. So feel free to join us after each Sunday service for refreshments and at The Stable Community Hub on Wednesday Mornings at 10.30 am and on Friday Mornings.

We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Manchester’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
