To start our Christmas festivities, Sunday School lead part of the Christingle service held on the 1st December 2024. One of the Sunday School Leaders talked about the Christingle's history and its significance in todays Christmas celebrations. As the leader talked about each significant part the children from Sunday School made a giant Christingle at the front of church. The children then stood at the front of the Alter and sang 'This little Light of mine'. All the congregation were given a Christingle at the start of the service and at a specific point in the service they were lit and the church lights turned off. A lovely and poignant way to start Christmas at St Mary the Virgin, Leigh.
