We are delighted that our new Garden of Remembrance was consecrated with the new Bishop of Bolton Revd Dr. Matthew Porter
The members of St. Paul's Church Walkden would like to thank all the local businesses who provided prizes for our 'Grand Draw' which raised money towards the cost of the Carol Hall Memorial Garden
Carol Hall was a business woman in Walkden for many years and a member of St. Paul's church. Having no family, she left her estate to the church for the sole purpose of maintenance of the church.
The memorial garden, for the interment of ashes, has been built on the old vicarage driveway - now long gone. The surrounding head stones along with those laid flat, were removed more than 50 years ago from the old churchyard in front of church (which is now lawned and placed on the old driveway as a historical record)
Money from the Carol Hall legacy has 'topped up' our fund raising project - but our fund raising is continuing and donations towards the Garden of Remembrance will be appreciated and acknowledged, as this burial plot is for the community of Walkden.
We respectfully ask that no dogs are allowed on the new Garden of Remembrance and all dogs must be kept on a lead on church ground - this is a consecrated burial ground and we ask that this is respected. Four legged friends are welcome to enjoy the green space with responsible humans who pick up after them.
The interment of ashes in the Carol Hall Memorial Garden can now take place.
