About Us
St Paul's Walkden is a Church of England parish church. At 10.30am about 60 adults and 15 children gather for worship using Common Worship. Twice a month this is a Sung Eucharist with a robed choir and traditional hymns. On the first Sunday of the month we have an All Age Service where young and old all worship together. The other Sunday is Morning Prayer with hymns, bible readings and a sermon.
Children are welcome at our church and participate in Junior Church from the age of 5 and older. From the ages of 2 to 4 years old, we have ACTS (Adults and Children Together) where you leave for your own learning and fun together and return to celebrate Holy Communion together as a church family. There is a soft play area at the back of church where parents can gather with very small children and still follow the service as we have a PA system to ensure that everyone can hear. Refreshments are served after the morning service in church.
We have strong links with our 2 Church Schools: St Paul's Heathside Grove and St Paul's Crompton Street and children from Mesne Lea Primary also visit the church from time to time.
We have an active branch of the Mothers' Union and a variety of social events, details of which can be found in the monthly parish magazine.
We hold a Tots at Two event in term time for pre-school children on Friday at the back of church. 1.30pm to 3.30pm.
We hold a coffee, cake and chat event on the 1st Thursday of every month in the community centre. Come and have fun and eat cake! 1.30pm to 3.30pm. Bring a friend, you are most welcome.
