About Us
Christ Church is a very warm and welcoming evangelical church in the village of Walshaw, Bury, Greater Manchester.
Our worship is informal and relaxed. We enjoy singing hymns and praise songs as part of our worship. On Sundays we have a busy Children's Church for children up to Year 6 which meets on the 1st, 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month while we also have a Morning Worship or service of Holy Communion taking place in the main church space. On the 3rd Sundays of the month when we have very engaging all age, family friendly services. There are also lots of toys and activities for our youngest members of the church in church which makes it possible for parents / carers to stay in the service while at the same time keeping an eye on their 'tots' while they play. When there is a fifth Sunday in the month we share in a Family Holy Communion Service. All of these services start at 11am but we share in refreshments before the service starts from 10.30am.
There is a very active 'lay ministry' at Christ Church' and this includes lay members leading services and sharing reflections / preaching / teaching.
We are currently developing how we 'connect with our community' - sharing the love of God and pointing to His Son Jesus while we get alongside people, get to know them, care for them and share our story. Recent development have included a very popular weekly 'Baby & Toddler Group' as well as 'Walshaw Community Choir' - a choir for anyone who enjoys singing. To keep a track on these why not follow us on FB (@WalshawChurch) or Twitter (@WalshawChurch) or go to our website: www.christchurch-walshaw.co.uk
We have good well established connections in our local community too - including with our church primary school and the local day nursery, and we actively support local voluntary secular and Christian mission agencies including Porch Boxes food bank, Street Pastors, and Bury's CAP Debt Centre. We also engage in national and international ministry through our support and partnership with Tearfund, Christians Against Poverty, the Bible Society and Compassion International.
If you are thinking of coming along and 'giving us a try' please do - we would love to meet you and get to know you.
