Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals
Baptism
We love baptisms / christenings (they are the same thing) at St Michael’s and welcome lots of people into the Church each year, of all ages, tiny babies to adults.
Baptism services are normally held on the first and third Sunday of the month.
If you would like to book a baptism, please attend the initial Baptism Preparation class on the first Thursday of the month at 6.30pm, this meeting is held at our sister church All Saints on Manchester Old Road, Rhodes.
Weddings
We welcome all enquiries about weddings at St Michael's. Whether you live in the parish or not, please get in touch and we will try to accommodate your requirements. Contact the Vicar in the first instance on 0161 655 1816 or email [email protected]
It is not permitted for same sex couples to be married in the Church of England at present, however we are happy to discuss with you the possibility of a service of celebration if you are already married or in a civil partnership.
Funerals
Christians have always believed that there is hope in death as in life, and that there is new life in Christ over death. Even those who share such faith find that there is a real sense of loss at the death of a loved one. We will each have had our own experiences of their life and death, with different memories and different feelings of love, grief and respect.
The funeral service is an occasion to express our faith and our feelings as we say farewell, to acknowledge our loss and our sorrow, and to reflect on our own mortality. The church offers funeral services as a way of providing support and consolation to those who mourn.
If you would like to talk to a member of clergy about arranging a funeral service or about a bereavement that you have experienced, please contact the Vicar on 0161 655 1816
