Oldham Parish Church

Welcome to Oldham Parish Church situated in the heart of Oldham Town Centre. There has been a worshipping Christian presence on this site since 1280. We invite you to join us in keeping the flame of faith burning today. We worship together every Sunday at 10:30am and every Wednesday at 10am. All are welcome!

Our parish of Oldham: St Mary w St Peter is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese of Manchester’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO Martcha Thomas or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor Abbey Clephane-Wilson. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services.

ILLUMINATE - LIGHT NIGHT 2025

Occurring
for 3 hours
Venue
Oldham Parish Church
Address
Rock Street Oldham Manchester, OL1 3AT, United Kingdom

Inside the church: Reflect by Emma Gasson.
An interactive light installation which uses a giant tank of water to create reflections that appear to sync perfectly with sound. Trail your hands through water, generating ripples which are reflected inside an atmospheric space. The installation is guided by an ambient soundtrack and the overall effect is hypnotic and mesmerising.
In the Church Gardens: The Matter of the Heart
A collection of Oldham hearts: 100 people and their real-time heart beats. Wherever they are now, together or apart, far away or near the artwork, their hearts will remain in this space, flashing together, in perfect time with their real-life heartbeat.

The curation of a community, expressed purely through the live heart-beat data of Oldham residents. It is an expression of a city’s societal networks, and a demonstration of the collective power of community. As an audience member you’re invited to walk among the flashing hearts, like a graveyard of the living, to allow the interconnectivity of Oldham to light your path.
