St Matthew's

St Matthew's Church is friendly and welcoming with links to St Matthew's Primary school on Poplar Road.

We have a BSL interpreter twice a month at the 10am service and hold quarterly Deaf/hearing services.

Our services are 8am Holy Communion (BCP) and 10am Eucharist (Common Worship)

Once a month, on our 3rd Sunday at 10am, we have a more informal Eucharist and we use power-point on a large screen.

We have an enthusiastic team of bell-ringers always on the lookout for new members and have a reputation for serving excellent home-made cakes at our coffee mornings and other events.

We have tea, coffee and refreshments after our 10am service in the adjacent Philip Holt Room.

And every Saturday we have a Book Cafe, also in the Philip Holt Room, from 10.30am - 12noon with tea, coffee and home made cakes.

Every Thursday 2pm to 4.30pm we have a welcome space in the Philip Holt room with free tea, biscuits, games and crafts.  Books and jigsaws available to borrow or purchase.

"The parish of Stretford: St Matthew is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Manchester’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services."

Out of Hours Support
The Diocese of Manchester partners with thirtyone:eight and you can access their Safeguarding Helpline if the Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser is unavailable. Thirtyone:eight can be contacted on 0303 003 1111.
This also includes any safeguarding queries outside of office hours on weekdays and weekends. An Information Sharing Agreement between the two organisations will allow the Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser to receive a copy of the advice thirtyone:eight may offer the caller.
