It is a time for reflection in darkness, for renewal of hope and for a movement towards a beginning. The season of Advent is the four Sundays before Christmas Day. Tuesday 3rd December at 7.30 p.m. - Flixton Community Choir ConcertCome and join us at St Michael's Church, Church Road, Flixton on Tuesday 3th December at 7:30pm and start getting into the festive spirit. No admission fee, but a donation to charity would be very much appreciated. This year we are splitting any donations equally between MS Society and Brain Tumour Research.Sunday 8th December at 6 p.m. - Blue ChristmasA quiet and reflective service for those who find Christmas hard.Tuesday 10th December at 7 p.m. - It's A Wonderful Life film screeningThe best Christmas film of all time will be shown on a big screen inside our beautiful Grade II* listed building. Please bring your own snacks and popcorn. Donations welcomed on arrival.Sunday 15th December at 4 p.m. - ChristingleChristingle celebrations are named after the Christingles that are lit during the ceremony. Christingles are oranges wrapped in red tape, decorated with dried fruit or sweets, with a candle on the top. Monies will be raised for the Children's Society charity.Sunday 22nd December at 6 p.m. - Nine Lessons and CarolsOur traditional service of Nine Lessons and Carols is, for us at St Michael's, one of the highlights of the year, the coming together of friends and family, the singing of beloved carols, and the beautiful message within the gospel lessons.Tuesday 24th December at 3 p.m. - Scratch NativityThe Scratch Nativity is an unrehearsed telling of the Nativity story. Please come along prepared to play a part if you want to, come dressed as a shepherd, a sheep, a wise man or an angel. Come along to St Michael's and have a lot of fun retelling the greatest story ever told!Tuesday 24th December - 10.30 p.m. - Singalong CarolsOur request carol service. Please come along and pick your favourite so that everyone can sing it. Don't forget to stay at the end, if you can, and you can attend our Midnight Mass service at 11.30 p.m.Tuesday 24th December at 11.30 p.m. - Midnight MassThis late-night service starts late on Christmas Eve and ends after midnight, so you're among the first to celebrate Christmas! The service contains carols and a short talk, as well as the celebration of Holy Communion (the blessing and sharing of bread and wine). Wednesday 25th December at 10.15 a.m. - Christmas Day Parish Communion Our communion service celebrating the birth of Jesus, and officially the first day of the Christmas season.

Our All Souls’ service offers people an opportunity to remember those they love but have died, whether the loss is recent or long ago. It is a quiet reflective service and will be taking place at 6 p.m. on Sunday 3rd November inside our church building. If you would like the name of a loved one who has passed away to be read out in the All Souls service, please add them to the list in church or send an email message to us before Sunday 27th October to Joanne O'Malley, Churchwarden, via jlom1964@hotmail.com
