In the year 1880, Bishop Benson of Truro Cathedral in Conwall devised a Service of Nine Bible Readings or "Lessons" interspersed with Christmas Carols. This format was taken up by the Choir at King's College Cambridge in 1918 and in 1954 on BBC Television.

The nine Bible Readings follow the story of how the first man and woman broke their relationship with God by disobeying Him by eating the fruit of a particular tree. The readings continue with the story of how Abraham was willing to kill his own son, two Bible readings fortelling the coming of Jesus, the story of Jesus' birth, and concludes with the reading from the beginning of the Gospel of John that explains that the baby Jesus was, in fact, God born as a human being.

Mice pies and refreshments afterwards!

St Paul's Heaton Moor

St. Paul's is a Christian Church in the centre of Heaton Moor where everyone is welcome. We work together with St John's, Heaton Mersey and Rev. Liz Rowles is Vicar of both Churches.

Our main service at St Paul's is on Sunday morning. On Wednesday mornings we hold a short Service followed by our Community Cafe.

At 6.30 pm on the fourth Sunday evening of most months we have Choral Evensong.

Find out specific details by looking at at our Services and Events.

For our Sunday notice sheet (Pew Sheet) look under "News and Notices".

When there is a fifth Sunday in a month there is a joint service at 10.30 am with the other three Churches in our Team. This is held at one of the four Churches.

We are part of the Inclusive Church Network.
