Manchester Cathedral, Chetham’s School of Music and Chetham’s Library make up the most complete medieval site to survive in the north of England. These buildings date back to 1421 before the Manchester we know and love was built around this area.
The two-day Medieval Quarter Festival celebrates this rich history and the incredible stories from Manchester’s past.
Visitors to Manchester Cathedral can view unique artefacts from our archives and incredible medieval items recovered from excavations in the area in our free exhibition.
A free guided tour of medieval Manchester Cathedral will also take place each day at noon on both Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 September.
