Maundy Thursday (from mandatum, 'commandment', because of the use of John 13.34 in the Antiphon) contains a rich complex of themes: humble Christian service expressed through Christ's washing of his disciples' feet, the institution of the Eucharist, the perfection of Christ's loving obedience through the agony in the Garden of Gethsemane.

We shall be having a sung communion service which will include the washing of feet (and lasting for one hour).

At the end of the service the consecrated host will be placed on the chapel altar and the sanctuary stripped of all colour in preparation for Good Friday.

The church will remain open from 9pm until midnight for the Watch of Prayer.
