At the end of June our vicar, Fr Timothy, celebrated 25 years as a priest. Fr Timothy celebrated mass. The Deacon of the mass was Bishop Jonathan Baker (the Bishop of Fulham), an old friend of Fr Timothy's, who also deaconed his first mass 25 years ago. The preacher was the Ven John Ellis, chaplain-in-chief of the Royal Air Force and Chaplain to the Queen, another old friend of Fr Timothy's, and a former parishioner in his first parish.
An enormous cast of other Priests, Readers, and Servers assisted, including the vicar's two teenage Godsons (who were the acolytes). After mass we enjoyed a sumptuous afternoon tea, and several cases of champagne, before returning to church for Benediction. There was also a marvellous cake, made in the form of a high altar. Friends and family gathered from every part of the vicar's life, to make the day a very special celebration.
