As you will be aware, St James is "In vacancy". This means we do not have a vicar and are looking for one. This can be a difficult time for churches as there are many essential tasks that a vicar does, such as taking communion and taking care of people, which can be difficult to cover. A vacancy is a good way for the church to find out what the previous vicar did as so much of their job is hidden from sight. St James managed well, however with the vast majority of the congregation in full time employment, there is a limit to what gaps can be filled. Hence when St James was offered the almost Reverend Akin, we jumped a the chance and Akin joined the fold.
Since Akin joined us, he has had a hugely positive impact on the church, from giving wise advice during our PCC meetings, leading communion twice a week and starting a prayer ministry space after the service. His enthusiasm, love of God and love of people is infectious.
Akin will not be with us for long as later in the year he will be ordained and move on to lead his own congregation, however St James values his help and support.
Thank you Akin
