About Us
believing · daring · caring · sharing
The Parish of St James is the Church of England parish in Enfield Highway and Brimsdown, in the northeast of the Borough of Enfield.
St James’s is a family- and child-friendly church for All Ages. We celebrate the diversity of our family—be it in our traditions, cultures or generations. We strive to be a real church for real people. Our motto here is ‘Come as you are’. Consider yourself invited, welcome and blessed!
Our worship runs the gamut of the broad Anglican tradition, from said Prayer Book Communion through to All-age Family services with more contemporary music. Here we preach the Scripture robustly and with relevance. We believe that coming forward for receive Communion is always an altar call to commit ourselves to Christ. We have a thriving Junior Church, an active Youth Group, two Bible studies, courses for adults, and many opportunities to be a part of a diverse family who loves and serves.
About the building: The church is a Grade II listed building, built in 1832. It is a plain-aisled building of stock brick, in Commissioners’ Gothic, with a western tower and battlemented exterior. Since a fire in the chancel in 1967, the interior was re-ordered, and is light, open and modern.
