On Easter Eve we gathered outside St Peter's with Bishop Rob to light the Easter fire, the symbol of the lighto fthe resurrection after the darkness of Good Friday. Despite windy conditions the paschal candle was blessed and lit and we processed behind it into church. With our own candle lit from it, we listened to the story of God's love for all he has made and then as the lights went on and more candles were lit we sang the Gloria accompanied by bells. After we had renewed our baptism vows, amid lots of holy water, Bishop Rob confirmed 14 Christians ranging in age from 9-79 into their faith. It was a very moving service; prayerful silence combined with joyful singing, lots of laughter, and being St Peter's lots of food and fellowship afterwards. A wonderful way to begin our Easter celebrations.
