100 Years of Social Housing

As part of the London Open House Festival, the People's Museum Somers Town and St Mary's are holding an event this Saturday from 13:30–16:00 in the church. There will be excerpts from the musical Jellicoe!, based on the life of Fr Basil Jellicoe and his work to build decent homes for the people of Somers Town. Films and photographs from the last 100 years will also tell the story. Later in the afternoon there will be a workshop on the importance of our twentieth-century social housing and whether it should be designated a conservation area.
