About Us
A very warm welcome to Emmanuel Church, West Hampstead, an inclusive community in the North Camden Deanery of the Edmonton Episcopal Area within the Diocese of London. We would see our mission, ministry and our life together at Emmanuel as radical hospitality to all – infinite respect for one another.</span>
We are glad to be members of the wider Church of England and international Anglican Communion which in its historic core values is broad and comprehensive, with room for all. We are grateful for our warm and ecumenical links with Christians of other traditions of the east and west and our friendship and solidarity with people of other faiths and of good will everywhere as we strive together for a more just, compassionate and sustainable world, reflecting God’s infinite justice and mercy.
Emmanuel has stood as a beacon of God’s light and love in its prominent position alongside West End Green since 1897. As a parish of the Church of England, we greatly value our distinctive role in serving not just a gathered congregation but the whole geographical parish – which is made up of much of the heart of the vibrant and cosmopolitan community of West Hampstead in the London Borough of Camden.
In 2016 Emmanuel underwent a major buidling development and restoration programme with a newly udnerpiled wooden floor with underfloor heating system, four new community meeting rooms, a kitchen, accessible WC with shower and baby change and additional WC with improved accessibility ramp through the north east bell porch. In addition to being a place of worship this has enabled us to be a considerable resource to the whole local community and a hub of activity for all.
As a Church community, Emmanuel is generously orthodox and everyone is warmly welcome at all our services and activities, irrespective of race, age, gender, physical ability, sexual orientation/identity or way of life.
We rejoice in the great and wonderful diversity of God’s creation and we recognize and celebrate the beauty of his image uniquely revealed in one another.
On our website you will find details of many of our services and activities, our values and our vision, and we much look forward to welcoming you in person.
