We have been incredibly lucky over the years to have had the internationally renowned musical director Mike Reed involved in the musical life at St Paul’s. Mike has directed the music for some of our most spectacular concerts, including the one to celebrate our 150th anniversary, as well as sometimes playing for us on Sundays when our regular organists are indisposed!
On Saturday 23rd November there’s a rare opportunity to hear Mike talking about his life in musical theatre, and hear him playing some of the tunes that have been important to him. He’ll also be joined by some of his musical friends (both singers and musicians) for a performance of show tunes and other popular music. The friends include violinist and cellist Ben and Bea Chappell, clarinettist Dave White and former St Paul’s organist Robert Emery. Robert will be duetting with Mike on a second grand piano, for what is certain to be a rousing performance of Gershwin’s magnificent Rhapsody in Blue.
This event is not to be missed – and as with all the concerts Mike has been involved in, we anticipate it will be sold out. Tickets are £20 and are available now from Eventbrite https://aneveningwithmikereed.eventbrite.co.uk/
