Sunday School and More

Occurring
Every Sunday at for 1 hour
Venue
St Mary's Twickenham
Address
St Mary's Parish Church, Church Street, Twickenham, TW1 3NJ, United Kingdom

Children are an important part of our church community and are welcome to remain in church with their parents during our services.

We offer the following Sunday morning groups specifically for infants, children and young persons

LITTLE FISH

Our 'Little Fish' group is for newborns to 3.5 year olds and their carer during the 9.30am Sunday services, re-starting after the Christmas break on 12th January 2025. This will run every Sunday in term-time, except third Sundays, when families join the whole service in church.

Please join us in the Vestry after the gradual hymn (the one before the Gospel) for bible stories, songs, prayer and a snack. We will return to church in time for Communion.

Contact Sarah Waller on [email protected] for more details.

SUNDAY SCHOOL

Our 3-5.5yrs, 5.5yrs-9yrs and our 9+ Sunday schools run every week at 9.30 in term time, excluding 3rd Sundays of the month when we all worship together in the Church.

We offer an informal act of worship for Scramblers and Explorers in the Church Hall followed by Sunday School activities for different age groups:

Scamblers - for 3-5½ year olds
The session includes a Bible story or song and the opportunity to make something related to the theme of the session. Parents collect their children and return to church for Communion.

Explorers - for 5½ - 8 year olds
The session usually includes discussion and often a game followed by an activity based around a Bible story. The children are brought back to church in time for Communion.

Adventurers & SMG - for 8 years and above.
Our 8-11s and 11+ groups meet together to share the gospel of the day or a Bible reading. It is a chance for them to worship together, be curious about Christianity and wonder about life. The group returns to the church in time for the Eucharistic Prayer as preparation for receiving Communion (if they have chosen to be admitted to taking Communion before Confirmation).

Knitting Group - Friends of Faith

Occurring
Monthly. Every Third Saturday at for 2 hours
Venue
St Mary's Twickenham
Address
St Mary's Parish Church, Church Street, Twickenham, TW1 3NJ, United Kingdom

We are a multi-faith, ecumenical local group - we meet from 10.30-12.30 on the third Saturday of each month in St Mary’s church hall. .

In recent years, by using the wool that was so kindly donated to us, we were able to give our knitted items - baby blankets, jackets, hats and mittens - to ‘Baby Basics’ in Sunbury and to ‘The Extra Mile’ at Hampton Mission Partnership.

We also made hats, scarves, gloves and children's and adult jumpers that were sent to Ukraine, and shawls and wool hats for the elderly which were then given to ‘The Extra Mile’.

How can you help?

If you have some balls of wool that you can donate, we can turn them into items that are urgently needed, locally and internationally! Please either:
• give them to one of our knitters, or
• bring them to one of our monthly meetings, or
• drop them into our ‘wool donations’ box inside St Mary’s church.

And if you want to join our happy band of knitters, do come along to one of our monthly sessions, or for more details get in touch with our organiser, Lynda Imir, by emailing [email protected]

Thank you – and Happy Knitting Year 2025!
