We have five new benches in our garden - and a tree bench. The benches - and equipment for maintaining the garden - were provided by the City of London's Community Infrastructure Levy Neighbourhood Fund. The Church Council is very grateful to the Fund for its support - and also to Mrs Paulene Monro for her liaison with the Fund on behalf of the Council. The garden is generally open between 9am and 5pm and is accessed via St Michael's Alley.
The Bishop of London has appointed the Rev'd Henry Eatock-Taylor to be Priest in Charge here at St Michael Cornhill. We hope the licensing service will happen in the summer. Henry says, "I am thrilled to accept this invitation to lead St Michael’s into this new chapter. As we’ve been reminded at Evensong over recent weeks, the words we hear sung and read on Monday evenings ‘are more to be desired than much fine gold…sweeter also than honey’ (Psalm 19:10). I'm praying my time as Priest in Charge will lead us to all savour God’s words more, and that he’ll give us countless opportunities to share such priceless treasure with the City on our doorstep."
The St Michael's choir will feature on BBC Radio Three at noon this coming Thursday (26 May). As part of series about Vaughan Williams, a 20th century English composer, the station will be broadcasting a performance by Williams’s "A Vision of Aeroplanes", written for St Michael's church.More details of the series are available.
