St John, Abram

St John’s is located in the former mining village of Abram close to Platt Bridge and is also known as Abram Parish Church. It is growing, with an increasing diversity in its membership, an openness to new ideas and joy in worship. It has an excellent relationship with St Johns CE primary school hosting services throughout the year and a bustling community café for Breakfast on Wednesday morning.

St John, Abram takes its duty and obligation to protect all extremely seriously. We have adopted the national Church of England's robust procedures and guidelines.

You can find out more about the national policies and procedures at https://www.churchofengland.org/safeguarding

Safeguarding

The parish of Wigan East is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Liverpool’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA: http://liverpoolcofe.org/safeguarding-matters/. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
