Christ Church Aughton

Welcome to Christ Church Aughton!  Serving our community, accepting people as they are and sharing the good news of Jesus. Whether you’re new to the area, exploring faith, visiting or looking for a place to call home, you’re so welcome here!

The Parochial Church Council Report is a wonderful way to read and learn about the life of Christ Church Aughton and a testimony to God’s grace, as we have so much to celebrate. To view the 2023 report, click here.

For more information about our regular services and special events, Including our Christmas services, click on "What's on" (below).  Once you're there, select the Calendar to see everything that's happening in the coming weeks / months and you can click on each event to get more details.  And don't forget to check out our 'News and notices' to stay informed about any thing new or special taking place, including the process to appoint a new Vicar, following Rev’d Sarah O’Donoghue’s recent move to the Diocese of Blackburn.  Currently we are conducting congregation and community surveys about the qualities of a new Vicar. Your participation is important and valued, so we invite you to go to the ‘News and Notices’ section to complete one of these surveys.

As we enter the Christmas season, each evening starting on December 1, 2024, we encourage you to read a chapter in The Book of Luke in the Bible. There are 24 chapters, so by Christmas Eve, you will have read the whole account of Jesus’ life and wake up on Christmas morning knowing who and why we celebrate Christmas.

Advance Notice of Electoral Roll Enrolment in 2025To ensure we have an accurate list of church members at Christ Church Aughton, we will be creating a new Electoral Roll in 2025 to replace the current one. Holy Communion Service: Every Sunday at 9:00 am

Occurring
Every Sunday at for 1 hour
Venue
Christ Church Aughton
Address
Christ Church Aughton, Long Lane Aughton, L39 5AS, United Kingdom

This service follows the modern Common Worship service pattern with two Bible readings, traditional hymns and a sermon. All Christians are welcome to receive communion which is currently given in the form of a wafer dipped in a cup of wine. For those who require a gluten free wafer, there is a separate cup. If you prefer the wafer only, let a member of the clergy know as you approach the chancel.

Coffee will be available between 10:00 and 10:35 am. This is a great opportunity for those who attend the 9:00 am service to stay for a chat with each other and with those who are attending the 10:45 am gathering. If you're new to Christ Church, this is also a great opportunity to introduce yourself and get to know the friendly church family.

Applications have been submitted to the Consistory Court for permission to carry out works for two key projects.
