Saint Columba's invites you to join us for the central act of worship of our Christian faith. We believe that it is important that we offer the best we can in praise and in beautiful liturgy in thanksgiving to God.

Columba's Crew is our Sunday School and is the place to bring your baby, toddler or primary aged children.
We engage with the Bible through song and story, through craft and connecting together.

It's often hard for little ones to sit through a Sunday Mass, so why not bring them along where they will learn the Christian faith and make new friends.

The Mass begins at 10.30 am and the children will head to the hall as the Mass begins.

If you wish to arrange a Baptism or Wedding please visit our church after the Parish Mass on Sunday when arrangements can be discussed and arranged. Please note that Baptisms normally take place on the last Sunday of each month at 12 noon.

A 4-week course.
Questions, we all have them: is there a God? What's wrong with the world? What's the meaning of life?
Come and explore them with the 321 Course, beginning on Sunday 9th March at 1.30 pm.

This year our focus will be ‘The Chosen’ – following season two and then engaging in a short discussion afterwards. Tuesdays at 7.30 pm after Mass starting 11 March.

Our Bible study is on Wednesdays after Mass for about 30 mins concentrating on Luke’s gospel. Why not come along and be attentive! Bring your Bibles !

Come along and bring your needle work, knitting, crochet, cross stitch etc. Or come to learn from those who know how to!

A said weekday Act of Worship.

Is Sunday morning difficult for you and your family? Are the children busy with activities? Have you been worried about bringing them along to a formal service? If any of these things are true then our Family Mass is for you! Designed with families in mind, our interactive liturgy, with child-friendly teaching and refreshments afterwards and craft activity might be what you've been looking for.

Celebrate “Mother’s Day” with this Mass at which we give thanks for our Mothers.

Doors open at 7.30pm and the first game starts at 8.00pm.

HE RODE IN MAJESTY
We will be starting the liturgy this day recalling the triumphal arrival of Jesus into Jerusalem with the blessing of Palms. The Mass includes the dramatic reading of the account of the Passion.

The Liturgy this day begins with the celebration of the Last Supper.
We remember the new commandment given by Jesus to " Love one another as I have loved you."
At the end of the Mass Psalm 22 will be read while the altars are stripped bare.

Following the Mass the church will remain open until midnight for everyone to spend some time in thought and devotion to remember the time that Christ spent in the Garden of Gethsemene agonising of what was to happen.

The Stations of the Cross are a 14-step devotion that commemorates Jesus Christ's last day on Earth as a man. The 14 devotions, or stations, focus on specific events of His last day, beginning with His condemnation. The stations are commonly used as a mini pilgrimage as the individual moves from station to station. At each station, the individual recalls and meditates on a specific event from Christ's last day. Specific prayers are recited, then the individual moves to the next station until all 14 are complete. We invite you to join with us as we meditate on the journey to the Cross.

The Liturgy follows the traditional pattern and includes a Liturgy of the Word, Prayers, the Passion Reading, the Adoration of the Cross and Communion from the reserved Sacrament.

We will be having our usual Good Friday Film with Fish and Chips at around 5.00 pm on 18 April. Please sign up and detail what food you would like. Sauces etc will be provided. The film is to be confirmed.

This is an ancient and powerful Liturgy which finds its origin in the Paschal liturgy of the Early Church.

The Vestry Meeting will elect two churchwardens for the coming year. The APCM will receive the Annual Report and Accounts for 2024. There will be the election of PCC members and the appointment of sidespersons.

This Mass with Music celebrates the bodily ascension of Christ into heaven.

This Sunday we will receive the promised Holy Spirit as we celebrate Pentecost.

We invite you to join us as we celebrate the missionary zeal of our patron Saint Columba.

We have a number of visiting clergy from the Diocese and beyond who will be bringing people with them from their parishes. We are joined by the choir of St Mary’s West Derby, as in times past.

The Mass will be followed by a “Saint Columba-style Reception” in the Community Centre.

We are naturally hoping for good weather so that many of the stalls and events can take place outside, but should we be unfortunate the fair will still go on inside the Parish Centre.
The winning tickets of our Summer Draw will be drawn at approximately 12.30.

A sung Mass to celebrate the saints.

This service is a time when we can remember those of our family and friends who have died. We will however remember in our prayers particularly those from our parish who have died in the last 24 months and those names which have been added to the prayer list at the back of church.

At this Solemn Requiem we will be praying for our family friends and former parishioners who have died. There is a list at the back of church to which names can be added for inclusion in our prayers.

Our Parish Mass will include an Act of Remembrance including 2 minutes’ silence.
