St Michael in the City

Welcome to St Michael in the City!

A warm and welcoming church in the middle of the city, between Chinatown, the Baltic Triangle and the city centre, St Michael's has a long heritage as a church for the dockers, sailors, Anglo-Chinese community and now the new residential areas springing up locally.

St Michael's is OPEN for worship, with a Sunday service each week at 11.15am. We can also take bookings for weddings, funerals and christenings at St Michael's: please email [email protected] or come along to a Sunday service to arrange these.

The community garden has recently been renovated and is run as the Roots in the City project in collaboration with the environmental charity Faiths4Change. There are gardening for wellbeing activities through the week: please see the Faiths4Change website for up to date information on these.

The hall is available for hire for regular groups and is currently used by, for example, AA, a Chinese Wellbeing group, and for drama and choir rehearsals. Please contact [email protected] with hire enquiries. Please note we are not currently booking individual parties.

The building is wheelchair accessible, and accessible toilets are available.

Safeguarding

Our parish, the St. Luke in the City Team, and this church are committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese of Liverpool’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO Sue Say or one the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisors (details on the link below). If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services.
