About Us

Welcome to the website for St Mary's, Broughton!

St Mary’s Church can safely be dated from 1066, although the tower is possibly earlier, giving evidence that there has been a centre of Christian worship in Broughton for over 900 years at least.  That worship continues to this day with regular weekly services and other services for festivals and special occasions.

Being the Parish Church, St. Mary’s also has a special rôle in the town, not only as a focus for those important family moments in our lives, but also for wonderful community events such as the Civic Service, the Christingle Service, School services and community festivals.  We also regularly pray for organisations and those who live, work or have their recreation in the parish of Broughton, which includes Wressle, Castlethorpe and the northern part of Scawby Brook.

In 2011, St Mary’s joined with the parishes of Scawby & Redbourne and Hibaldstow to form a new group of parishes, and we look forward to working together in the future.  We have recently brought the Anderson Chapel back into use, and we hope to start work on the organ and the tower soon.  The ministry of St Mary’s continues thanks to the fantastic work of many of its members who continue to give their time to looking after the building and leading and helping with services.

St Mary’s is a friendly and welcoming church so feel free to come along to any of our services, or to contact us if we can be of any help.
