Notices

A member of the Electoral Roll can:

· Vote at the annual parochial church meeting (APCM) a yearly meeting where decisions about the church are made. This year the meeting will be held on Monday 28th April ’25 at 6.30pm in the Vicar’s Rooms.

· Help choose Churchwardens and other leaders.

· Stand for election yourself to help run the church, like joining the Parochial Church Council (PCC) and making policy decisions about the parish church.

Who can join the Electoral Roll?

You can join if you:

· Have been baptised

· Are at least 16 years old or will be this year.

· Are a layperson (not clergy).

But you must also meet one of these conditions:

1) you live in the area covered by the church (the parish) and are happy to be known as a member of this church.

2) if you don't live in the parish, you must have attended worship at this church regularly for the last six months and are happy to be known as a member of this church.

3) you have previously belonged to another Christian Church that believes in the Trinity (the Father, Son and Holy Spirit) and having attended worship regularly for six months or more, you are happy to be known as a member of this church.

How to join?

Your name will not be added automatically even if you live in the parish or come to church every week. To join, you must fill in an application form and once your name is on the roll it will stay there until you ask for it to be removed.

However, every six years (happening in 2025) we must create a brand-new Electoral Roll, and everyone must reapply, so if you want to stay on the roll or join for the first time and have an interest or a say in the running of the church, you must please complete and return the form attached.

For those regular worshippers who have already been given a reapplication form for 2025 by the Churchwardens, please complete and return it as soon as possible to ensure the roll is as accurate as possible prior to the APCM.

Why should you bother?

Being on the roll shows that you care about the future of your church in Barrow on Humber. It also means that you're helping shape decisions not just in your local church, but through the Synods in the wider Church of England too. If you are passionate about the future of this church, joining the roll is an easy but important way to be informed and/or get involved.
