Saxilby is 6 miles to the north-west of the city of Lincoln, on the A57 main road. There are regular bus services (Stagecoach 100 and 106 services between Lincoln and Gainsborough; PC Coaches service 777 from Lincoln). The Fossdyke Canal passes through the village with local moorings available. There is also a railway station with regular trains running between Lincoln, Gainsborough and stations further north.
