An Ash Wednesday service of Holy Communion and Ashes is a solemn and reflective service marking the beginning of Lent.

It includes:

Penitential prayers and Scripture readings focusing on repentance and renewal.
A sermon encouraging self-examination and commitment to a holy Lent.
The Imposition of Ashes, where a cross is traced on the forehead with ashes, accompanied by the words: "Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return." (Genesis 3:19).
Holy Communion, celebrating Christ’s grace and forgiveness.

A quiet, reverent atmosphere, with hymns that emphasise repentance and hope.
