Did Jesus ever really exist? Central to the Christian claim is that Jesus was born of a virgin in Bethlehem in Judea during the reign of Augustus Caesar, lived for around 33 years and gathered a large following. He died by Roman Crucifixion and miraculously rose again from the dead, appearing to around 500 people for approximately 40 days and then went up and disappeared. What if that is just a work of fiction, stuff of myth and legend? What would be the point of Christianity or indeed the church in our village? Well, here at St Marys Church we are addressing that issue with our series of books on "Reasons to Believe", the first of which deals with the evidence from the perspective of 'cold case' detection. J Warner Wallace is a retired cold case detective and as an atheist decided to investigate Christianity using the investigative techniques he employed in his work as a detective. Please feel free to have a look at it. You may borrow it if you like, but we would be pleased if you would write your name, the date and your phone number on the notepad provided.
