Butterfly Hospice Light up a Life Service

Occuring
for 1 hour
Venue
St Botolph
Address
Wormgate Boston, PE21 6NP, United Kingdom

The Butterfly Hospice Trust would like to invite you to join us for our annual “Light up a Life” Service, an uplifting opportunity to reflect on happy memories whilst celebrating those we love, offering a space to remember and celebrate the lives of loved ones who are no longer with us.

Light Up a Life welcomes everyone, whether they have had a connection with the hospice or not, to reflect on happy memories finding special moments to celebrate the lives of those we have loved whilst helping Butterfly Hospice to support people living with life-limiting illness and their families.

This year, our doors will open earlier at 2:00 pm, inviting you to join us as we take over the Stump coffee shop for the afternoon. Before the event, we invite you to join us for refreshments, including lots of delightful homemade cakes – an opportunity to meet with our nurses and charity staff, fostering an atmosphere of togetherness and support – available until 3:30pm as our service starts at 4:00pm.

At 4:00pm, our hour-long remembrance service will begin. The highlight of our event will be the “Wave of Light,” a poignant moment when we will lower the lights within the church and invite participants to light their candles, piercing the darkness with countless points of light, each one symbolising the enduring presence of a cherished life.

Lanterns and candles can be purchased by donation in the run-up to the service, along with in-memory Christmas decorations on which you can add a loved one’s name and hang them on our Christmas tree during the service.

We will be joined by the Blighty Belles Lincolnshire Vocal Academy Choirs who will sing for us and with us, their music will not only inspire us into reflective thinking but entertain us as well.

“Light up a Life” is not only a FREE community event that honours precious memories but also an opportunity to help your local hospice continue to provide compassionate care for those facing life-limiting illnesses along with their families. Your presence signifies support for this vital mission and the shared experience of remembrance. We look forward to seeing old and new friends and to sharing this afternoon of reflection with you.
