Knights Templar Replica shroud Exhibition

Venue
St Wulfram
Address
Church Street Grantham, NG31 6RR, United Kingdom

Many people will have heard about the Shroud of Turin but haven't had the opportunity to see it up close. An exact 1:1 scale linen replica of the famous shroud is making its way to Grantham, with the help of the Knights Templar!

Brother John Michael wishes to welcome believers and non-believers alike to come and experience its wonder.

See it for yourself at St Wulfram's, from Thursday 27 February through to Monday 3 March. The exhibition is free, but donations are welcome.

BBC Lincolnshire reported that it is a copy of the original, which is a linen cloth that has been venerated for centuries as the burial shroud used to wrap the body of Jesus after the Crucifixion.

The 4.4m-long (14ft-long) laser replica was made about 20 years ago.

Brother John Michael, who has been involved in organising the exhibition, said the first time it had been on display in England was in 2024.

Speaking to the BBC, Brother John Michael, from Templars Today, said: "We use this [replica] to spread the word of Christianity and to give people who may never get the chance to go to Turin [a chance to see it]."

He said it had previously been on show in France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

He added that there were fears the original shroud – which is in Turin Cathedral – could eventually be lost, but the replica provided an opportunity "for the faithful" and the people who "don't believe, but are curious" to experience its wonder.

Templars Today is a community interest company, and Brother John said its aim was to "end hate" and to preserve Christianity and the "wonderful buildings we have".

St Wulfram

It's good to welcome you to St Wulfram's.

St Wulfram's is an ancient site of prayer and pilgrimage with a living heritage today.

Here are a few things which might be helpful for you to know about us: We're a diverse congregation of all ages and from all backgrounds. As Jesus welcomed all people, so we too welcome all people regardless of their background. We're a place where all your senses will be fully engaged in the worship of God. You may smell incense, hear beautiful music, experience silence and stillness and see people using gestures as a way to express the inexpressible during our services. We’re a place exploring how to serve our parish and neighbourhood with acts of compassion along with expressing justice locally and globally. We’re friendly, we will make every effort to welcome you, but we will try to respect your space. We hope to see you in St Wulfram’s very soon.
