Occurring
for 1 hour
Venue Address
St Mary Magdalene, Parish Church of St Mary Magdalene Exchequergate Lincoln, LN1 3AR, United Kingdom
Performed by Lincoln Mystery Plays
Come along to see our fast-paced and evocative Holy Week Plays which date back to around 1450 and are performed today in a freshly-written modern translation. Ending with Jesus’ crucifixion, these medieval Mystery Plays continue to be thought-provoking, relevant and moving.
The plays are a Medieval take on the events of Holy Week. Starting with the joyfulness of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem and progressing onto the significance of the Last Supper, events quickly descend into brutality – all stirred up by Lucifer and his evil demons who he sends to manipulate matters on Earth.
Our 45 minute performance will include Medieval music as well as a mix of wry humour, tenderness, fear and anger. Truly, a portrayal of human nature in all its rawness and angst.
Some scenes will not be suitable for small children.
