St Giles Community Garden began in January 2016. A derelict and overgrown area of land behind the church halls has been transformed into a shared community garden. Working in partnership initially with the local charity Green Synergy, volunteers from the neighbourhood have created a beautiful space for others to enjoy.
We are reminded of God’s call to each of us to be wise and committed stewards of the earth. A small group of us gather together regularly to consider how we care for God’s creation as a church community. In 2020 we celebrated achieving our Eco-Church Bronze Award and have been working steadily to continue on our Eco Church journey since then. We’ve made lots of small, positive changes over that time and the team are delighted to announce that in September 2022 we have achieved our Eco Church Silver Award.
As we continue our own eco journeys and our eco journey together as a church we hope this is an encouragement and reminder of the transformation possible through continued efforts to keep making changes which benefit God’s precious world whenever and however we can.
We'd love it if you wanted to volunteer to keep the garden looking wonderful. Please be in touch to chat about it. The contact is Debbie Armiger on 07914663078
