St John’s Church Remembrance Sunday Service will be held at 1010am on Sunday 10 th November. A Remembrance Sunday service will be held on Sunday 10th November 2024 at St John the Evangelist Church, followed by a parade to the war memorial to observe and commemorate the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women. For some Remembrance Sunday will always be personal, a day of personal memories. For all, it is an essential reminder that we live in community and that the decisions we make as a nation, or as part of a global network of nations, ripple out to affect us all. Perhaps more so at this time of repercussions of war in the Middle East and Ukraine and Climate Change, than any time since the first and second world wars. This Remembrance Sunday, while remembering again with respect those soldiers and their families who gave up so much, we will be finding ways to remember lives lost and changed as a result of loss, job loss and anxiety. It will also be a time when we give thanks for all that is good in our lives. When we perhaps remember acts of loving kindness and the love of God, a love which gives ultimate meaning to our lives. A love which surrounds us from the moment we are born until the moment we die. A love in which we can be certain in a world of uncertainty. If you would like us to pray for you at this time why not write a prayer and post it in the post box at the entrance to the church. Alternatively come and see us any Sunday morning and Wednesday 10 am to 4pm. Please join us at St John’s Church as we find ways to honour and remember, to lament and find hope during the month of November- keep an eye on the church FB page, notice board and Achurchnearyou.com for further details. God bless, Revd Jacqueline.
