On Monday evening the PCC for the Parish of Drayton Bassett, Fazeley & Mile Oak agreed to, over the course of 2023, evolve to a structure of five core sub teams of the PCC. There will be a leadership team for each of the three churches: three small teams who will focus on giving a lead to the mission and ministry of the respective churches. (A calling out process involving the congregations will happen over the summer with these teams appointed by the PCC in September.) The other two teams will be the existing functional teams: Buildings & Churchyards and Finance & Admin Teams. The five teams will have delegated authority from the PCC to move forward their given area operating under the maxim of 'low control, high accountability' in that the teams will regularly report back to PCC but only major parish-wide decision making is brought to the PCC. The PCC will also meet less frequently (quarterly) and its primary objective will be discerning and ensuring that an annual Mission Action Plan (that is in line with the Parish 'Going Deeper' vision) is being realised by the five teams, as well as attending to parish-wide business, including safeguarding. To enable these five core teams to function effectively and to guard against people overstretched serving on multiple teams, a motion will be put forward at the APCM on the 30th for the size of the PCC to be reduced from the 2024 APCM. We hope that a leaner PCC with a sharper focus will empower these five teams over the coming years enabling our discerned vision to be realised further.
