ALL SAINTS TO ADVENT
From All Saints Day we enter the time of the Christian year that is sometimes called ‘The Kingdom Season’. It is a season of remembering, recalling the saints who have gone before us, the faithful departed on All Souls Day, and celebrating on Remembrance Sunday those who have given their lives in war. We wait for the final consummation of God’s new creation in Christ; those who are Christ’s, whether or not they have passed through death, are joined in prayer that God’s kingdom will be revealed finally and in all its fullness. The annual cycle of the Church’s year then ends with the Feast of Christ the King, which returns us to the Advent theme of judgement.
PRECES AND RESPONSES John Bawden (b. 1943)
CANTICLES Evening Service in B minor Thomas Tertius Noble (1867-1953)
OFFICIANT AND PREACHER
The officiant and preacher this evening is The Venerable Stuart Beake, Acting Dean.
