Join us in the Cathedral for Choral Evensong, Fourth Sunday after Trinity on Sunday 2 July, at 6pm.
FIRST EVENSONG OF ST. THOMAS
It is in John’s gospel that Thomas’ significance as one of the apostles is revealed. First, he is heard encouraging the other disciples to go to Judea with Jesus; then, not knowing what Jesus meant when he talked about where he was to go elicited the answer that Jesus was himself the Way. Most famously, he was the apostle notably unconvinced by reports of the resurrection, who acclaims Jesus as ‘My Lord and my God!’ when he saw the marks in Jesus’ hands and his side.
