SIMON AND JUDE
Simon and Jude are named among the twelve apostles in the gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke. Simon is called the ‘Zealot’; Zealots were a nationalist resistance movement opposing the Roman forces, occupying the nation at that time. Jude appears to be the same person as Thaddaeus.
The two apostles are both commemorated on 28 October after a church that was dedicated in the seventh century to their joint memory, having relics of each saint.
