Ash Wednesday’s broadcast Choral Evensong features the world premiere of a newly commissioned work ‘Half so Well’ by Gregory May as the anthem. The text is by Richard Crashaw.
The choir will also sing the introit ‘Kyrie’ based on Byrd’s Mass for five voices - elaborated here by Roxanna Panufnik. Responses will be sung to the setting by William Byrd, the canticles to a setting by Thomas Weelkes and the famous ‘Miserere mei’ - Psalm 51 - to a setting by Scottish composer James MacMillan.
All are welcome to attend this service, but you will need to be seated by 3.45pm at the latest.
