Join us in the Cathedral for the 9.45am Eucharist Baptism of Christ, 07 January
THE BAPTISM OF CHRIST
This celebration takes place on the Sunday after Epiphany and focuses on the second of the three themes of the season of Epiphany. The first theme is the recognition of the infant Jesus as the Christ. We mark this on the Epiphany when the Magi finally found the two-year-old Jesus and then at the conclusion of the season when we remember Jesus’ Presentation in the Temple. The second theme of the season is Jesus’ baptism by his cousin John and the third is marked on the second Sunday of Epiphany when we reflect upon the ordinary water being turned into extraordinary wine at a wedding celebration in Cana.
MASS SETTING
Missa Brevis Grayston Ives (b. 1948)
PRESIDENT AND PREACHER
The president this morning is The Reverend Canon Chris Hollingshurst and in place of the sermon the Acting Dean, The Venerable Stuart Beake, will update the congregation regarding the Cathedral’s financial position.
THANK YOU
